Supporting and connecting Clean Language practitioners and enthusiasts world wide
We are a global community for Clean Language enthusiasts. We welcome those who are simply curious, students, practitioners, trainers and researchers. Whether you are brand new to Clean Language or have decades of experience, there is a place for you here.
WHO WE ARE
ICLA exists to nurture and strengthen the living practice of Clean Language worldwide. We stand for depth of practice, integrity, and ongoing learning, while recognising that Clean Language grows through the people who use it, question it, teach it, and research it across different cultures and contexts.
Our role is to hold a space where ethical practice is supported, experience is shared, and dialogue remains open and rigorous. By connecting practitioners, trainers, and researchers internationally, we help the work continue to evolve in ways that remain grounded, responsible, and responsive to those it serves.
Clean Language asks something of those who work with it. Practising well takes time, discipline, and discernment. In our community we stay curious, reflective, and receptive to learning, supporting Clean Language as living knowledge, shaped by the people who use it.
Join us in this ongoing work.

PURPOSE AND VALUES
ICLA exists because Clean Language thrives best in community.
We believe Clean Language is at its strongest when practitioners can learn from one another, challenge assumptions, share experience, and stay connected to the values that sit at the heart of Clean work.
Our purpose is to:
- Provide a shared home for the global Clean Language community, including students, teachers and enthusiasts at all levels of experience (logic of role cf. above)
- Foster collaboration, dialogue, and mutual learning
- Support ethical, respectful, and skillful use of Clean Language
- Encourage reflection on what it means to practise Clean Language cleanly
- Share knowledge, resources, and research across disciplines and cultures
Our values
Honouring the work and spirit of David Grove, the originator of Clean Language, we seek to promote generosity and inclusion in sharing and developing Clean Language. We embody the open curiosity and respect for others at the heart of Clean interactions.
The Association is open to all who wish to engage with Clean Language, recognising and respecting varying roles, experience and responsibility. And what remains constant is mutual respect and the possibility for everyone to participate, learn and contribute to the field.
We are committed to:
- Integrity — acting honestly and transparently in how we practise and relate
- Respect — for clients, colleagues, and the diversity of Clean applications
- Inclusion — creating a community where people feel welcome and able to contribute
- Learning — recognising that Clean practice deepens through reflection and dialogue
- Responsibility — holding ourselves accountable for how we use Clean Language
ICLA aims to be a space where difference is welcomed, conversation is encouraged, and no single voice dominates.
